I began my teaching career at the high school level then transitioned to elementary after working for Concordia Language Villages in Minnesota for a summer. I spent five more summers working as a counselor and credit teacher for CLV. I taught K-4 Spanish for six years and have spent the last four years teaching 2-5 Spanish. Suffice it so say, I love my elementary students!
I love the immersion approach to teaching foreign languages and believe firmly in Stephen Krashen's theory of comprehensible input. I try to have my lessons be relevant to my students' lives whenever possible and believe this is one of the keys to having motivated foreign language learners in my classroom.
Yet to be added
I earned a B.A. in Spanish Education from Goshen College, Indiana in 1997 and a Master's in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca, Spain in 2008.
I am married with a 3 year old daughter whom I've been speaking Spanish with since infancy. Watching her Spanish language skills blossom is a source of real joy and amazement for me.
