I have taught Spanish for 18 years at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I love experiencing other cultures to the fullest and sharing those experiences with my students to instill a love for learning and languages. During my time in the classroom, I have created many engaging activities activities for all levels and abilities. My students have enjoyed my materials and I hope yours will too!
Constantly finding creative methods to engage students in pursuing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

BA in Secondary Education/Spanish from Clemson University. Traveling has been one of my greatest teachers! I have spent a lot of time in Brazil, Spain, Mexico and Peru.
¡Hola! I fell in love with the Spanish language in high school and continued studying Spanish in college. After a volunteering for a FLES (Foreign Language for Elementary Students) program, I quickly decided I wanted to pass on my love for Spanish to students and pursued a degree in secondary education with a concentration in Spanish. I spent 13 years teaching Spanish at the elementary level in 4 different schools (private & public). At each school I had to develop my own curriculum and create my own resources. Quality activities were hard to find! I spent 5 more years teaching Spanish 1 at the middle school level. Again, I had to find and create materials that were relevant and meaningful to engage my students. The textbook activities were so dull and repetitive. I remember one student asking me "What is a cassette tape?" Or compact disc and dvd. That is how outdated the textbook was. I began to enhance the lessons by adding current and relevant topics of conversation. I also created simple word searches, crosswords, speaking activities and bingo games in order to make learning fun. The students loved these activities! When I would announce a word search, I would hear a resounding "Yes!" I realized that if my students loved these activities, others would too.Creating an entire curriculum is time consuming! As a teacher, I did not have enough time in my planning period to do everything I needed and wanted to do.(Can you teachers relate?!) It is my purpose that in making these activities and resources available to teachers on the TeachersPayTeachers website that I will help students have fun with Spanish and help teachers by giving them more time to focus on teaching and less time on creating materials. I know the amount of work that is put on a teacher's plate each year and the amount of time to plan is very small. It is my goal to make the job of a Spanish teacher easier and more fulfilling! Happy Teaching!
