I have been a Kindergarten teacher for a total of six years in Phoenix, Arizona and Chicago, Illinois. I always thought I wanted to teach older grades, but the kinders captured my heart.
I have been trained in Success for All and Lucy Calkin’s Reading and Writing Workshops. My classroom schedule implements a variety of whole group, small group, and independent work times throughout our day. Our literacy block is the highlight of our day. We start with a read aloud and focus lesson that aligns with our current workshop bend. We then break off into differentiated centers and guided reading groups. The centers incorporate game-based learning, partner work, and technology. Each center can easily be differentiated based on the level of the group.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Child and Elementary Education and Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Additionally, I have completed my Structured English Immersion Endorsement in Arizona and Illinois.
When I am not in school, I love spending time with family and friends. I greatly enjoy going to summer fests (80’s music is my jam), running, boating, playing kickball/games, and baking.
