I have been teaching first grade for 3 years now. It is my passion! I love being able to work on the basics of reading with the students and seeing how much they grow and mature over the year. I am lucky enough to teach in the elementary school I went to and the county I was raised in! I have wanted to do this since I was in the same classes as my students and I feel very blessed!
I believe that every student can learn. I love using inquiry based lessons, PBLs, and hands on activities to keep students engaged and learning. Students want to learn and have a natural curiosity about the world around them. It is my job to help guide them to discover new things and give them a safe, loving environment to do this in. I believe in a student centered classroom and like using Kagan cooperative learning strategies. Students can learn a lot from one another and I love watching them interact and discover something new together. I have a true passion for teaching and I could not imagine doing anything else with my life!
I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and graduated Cum Laude as well.
I went to a community college my senior year of high school and had a year of college completed before graduating. Then, I finished up my associates degree and transferred to a University to get my degree in elementary education. Throughout my college career I worked in the school system substituting and worked at two different daycares as a three year old and Pre K teacher. This also helped me to learn more about teaching prior to graduating.
I LOVE teaching and Dr. Seuss! I have created many resources to help enhance the class and help the students learn as well. I am excited to share them with you and hope that they will help your students as well.
