I have taught Gr 7-12 Social Studies, English, Drama/Film, and PE for 25 years, in West and North Vancouver, BC, and the International School of Prague, CZ. I teach the International Baccalaureate programme (DP History, MYP Individuals & Societies, MYP Language & Literature) and BC Dogwood Diploma programme courses. As well I have developed my own courses in these schools, such as creating Film programmes in two schools. I currently teach at an IB continuum school, having the opportunity to teach Gr 8-12 students across the MYP/DP continuum, as well as teaching students in the BC Dogwood Diploma programme.
I try to do a wide variety of activities and assessments, both student and teacher directed. I want students to "own" what they are learning by emphasizing activities and assessments that focus on research and having students demonstrate their findings using critical thinking skills in oral and written formats.

I have been the Head Coach of High School Girls and Boys Volleyball, Track & Field, Soccer, Cross Country, and Improv teams. Several of these teams have won/placed in their divisional/regional/national championships. I tend to teach as a "coach:" I help students set goals, differentiate to try to help them meet those goals, help them reflect on their progress, and get them to set new goals in an ongoing, evolving process.
