This is my 15th year in education. I have taught first, second, and fifth grades in both urban and rural settings. I have also served as a Literacy Coach, Writing Coach, and Staff Developer.
In a word: Eclectic. If it works, I try it. I am constantly trying to fine the perfect balance between using the research-based programs for instruction adopted by my district, and the self-tried and invented strategies that I have determined are best for my students. My students set their own goals for learning, and together we stop at nothing to reach them.
Was named as the Rosanne Ginney Teacher of the Year for 2005. Has been invited to speak and present at numerous state level conferences by KRA, KASA, KTLC, and the Kentucky Reading and Writing Project. Served on numerous state level committees to help guide and develop reading and writing standards and guidelines for instruction.
I earned my Bachelor's at the University of Kentucky (GO BIG BLUE!) I received a Masters in Reading and Writing, and a Master's in Instructional Leadership from Northern Kentucky University.
I have a passion for all things Kentucky, Disney, and Christmas. But, my true purposes for living are my 10-year-old daughter, 5-year-old son, sweet husband, and my Jesus, He is at the forefront of my family and classroom.
