TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching elementary general music for the past 11 years. My students have ranged in age from 3 years old, up through 8th grade. I have taught in both urban and suburban setting, public and private. I currently teach PreK (3 years old) through 5th grade music in a private school in New Jersey.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is rooted in the Kodaly Method, with a sprinkling of Orff and a dollop of Dalcroze. I want my students singing creating and moving. I believe in the power of cooperative learning and hands-on activities. I want my students to not only love music, but to become literate musicians.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I completed level 1 Orff training at DePaul University and all three levels of Kodaly training at NYU. I spent a week in Hungary studying at the Kodaly Institute in the summer of 2011 and can not wait to return!
