TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 20th year in education. I taught first grade for my first ten years and truly loved first and never thought I would move. Then we received a \$100,000 technology grant, and I was asked to move up to middle school to help implement the grant. I taught 6th - 8th ELA and technology for four years. It was a wonderful experience, but I was glad when my wish was granted to move back down to first grade. I figured that 1st was my last stop, as I was in my happy place, but as we all know, things don't always happen the way we expect. I applied for and was offered a spot in our technology department at the district level, and it was too good of a move to pass up. Now I am working on helping our teachers as we move to a 1:1 district. Our goals are to help our teachers integrate technology effectively. It's been a fun ride thus far! Just when you think you're at your last stop, things change. I'm now an assistant principal back at the school that I taught at for 16 years. It's hard to believe, and many days I question my move, but I know that this move along with every other thing that has happened in my life has been the hand of God. So, as with everything else, I will ride this ride until God's plan is revealed once again.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love hands-on activities, and anything I can do to make things eye-appealing and cute, I'll do. It makes me happy!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received over \$25,000 in grants along with winning a Promethean board, a set of Activexpressions, and a set of Activotes. I've been blessed!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Ed 1st - 8th and Masters in leadership.

I have been married for 27 years and have three wonderful children. My oldest is a geologist for the Army Core of Engineers. I also have twins that are 22. Courtney graduated in Informatics and ran Blogs Fit for a Queen for several years, but is now focusing on her full-time job. Jeremy spent five years in college, and is now working on his electrical apprenticeship. I'm very proud of all three!
