My name is Shanon, and I'm the face behind We Are Better Together! This is my 21st year in education. Most of my teaching career has been in first grade (my true happy place), but I have also taught middle school ELA (4 years), worked at the district level as a technology facilitator, I was an administrator for 1 1/2 years, and I am now back at the school board working with teachers to help incorporate technology into their classrooms to make it relevant, engaging, and useful!
I started We Are Better Together formerly OCD in First, then OCD in Elementary, back in 2013. My love of creating resources for my classroom got me started on this path, and has also kept me connected. My goal has always been to create things so you don't have to - allowing teachers time to spend with their families. I love creating, so for me - this is an outlet. I love knowing that I'm helping teachers out there get their life back! As rewarding as teaching is, it is also very demanding. I'm happy that I can help other teachers in some small way.
I love hands-on activities, and anything I can do to make things eye-appealing and cute, I'll do. It makes me happy!
I've been teacher of the year twice, LACUE teacher of the year for our zoned area, and worked on a federal grant that brought in $100,000 to our school to get Activboards into every single classroom. I have received over $25,000 in grants for my classroom, along with winning a Promethean board, a set of Activexpressions, and a set of Activotes. I've been blessed!
BA in Ed 1st - 8th and Masters in leadership.
I have been married for 29 years and have three wonderful children. Our oldest son, Jacob, is a geologist and will give us our first grand baby in 2022. I also have twins that are 25. Courtney graduated in Informatics and ran Blogs Fit for a Queen for several years, but is now focusing on her full-time job. Jeremy spent five years in college, and is now working on his electrical apprenticeship. I'm very proud of all three!
