TEACHING EXPERIENCE

25th year teaching k-5 elementary school art. Masters in Technology in Education (k-8) through Lesley University online program. Bachelor's degree: Art Education, with certification k-12. I took the core of art and education courses. My bachelor's degree is such that I can take a few classes and become classroom certified.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands-on, observation, learn by doing and experimentation. Helping students discover that if they think it through, they know more than they think. Helping students learn how to use logic and work problems through without having to be spoon-fed through every step.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Who's Who in American Teacher's In college, I sold a painting to Johnson Publisher Company, President's daughter of Jet Magazine Short study at ages 16-18 with the Art Instruction School of Chicago(mail correspondence course)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduate of South Carolina State College; work in Dorchester Co. School District Two, Summerville, SC 25years. Master's of Technology In Education through Lesley University online program

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My first love of art is pencil drawing. I have an interest in still life renderings. The pencil offers to me such dramatic and soft contrasts. It to me is an amazing media, with endless possibilities. I, however, am not as sharp on my skill as I wish I could be. With having taught so far 25 years, I have put projects on hold. Teaching art has dramatically changed and even in the arts, a lot of programs and paperwork have evolved, which has changed the face of teaching in the arts. I plan to resurrect my skill by becoming involved in a community of my peers. In doing so, maybe it will re-ignite my spark and love of my God-given skill.
