TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm an eighth-year teacher who really loves her job. I have taught three styles of 9th grade English: Pre-AP, Gen Ed, and ELL. I have taught Keystone, a ninth grade high school readiness career education course, and ACT test prep. I am primarily a speech and drama teacher with classes in drama, stagecraft, oral comm, and costume and makeup.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands on! Learning by doing is the best way to learn. The biggest goal in my classes is to expand my students' creativity by equipping them with new skills and forcing them to apply those skills in novel ways with minimal limits. My kids repeat my mantra to me: "create something you're proud of!"

As an undergrad, I attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. My B.A. degree is a double in American Studies (American Identity) and English (American Literature), Magna Cum Laude. I earned my Master of Education degree in 2010 from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock with a focus on English and Speech/Drama in secondary settings with high honors. I completed my post-graduate specialist program in Gifted and Talented Education last spring with a focus on the creatively gifted and underachievers.
