Fifteen years in teaching - 8 in the elementary classroom and 7 years teaching Gifted Education.
I like to do a lot of hands-on with my students as well as using music to help them learn different concepts. I have spent 7 years of my teaching career teaching gifted students, which taught me that sometimes it is best to guide from behind rather than always lead from the front. Giving up control of my teaching was a hard thing to do at first, but I have found that the students learn a lot more if you let them make a mistake, point them in a direction, then let them find the correct answer on their own.

Hello! I am a 5th Grade Teacher at Freedom Elementary tin Waynesville, Missouri. This is my fifteenth year teaching elementary students. I began my educational career teaching 2nd grade at East Elementary in Waynesville. For the past seven years I have been teaching Gifted Education in the Iberia and Camdenton School Districts. I live Waynesville, Missouri, with my husband, Jason, who teaches Agriculture at WCC, and my two sons, Logan and Garrett. Both of my children enjoy playing soccer, and I love being a "Soccer Mom." My oldest son, Logan, will be a senior at Waynesville this year and Garrett, my youngest son, will be at the 6th Grade Center. I also have two Boston Terriers named Otis and Oscar and a calico cat named Reggie. When I am not watching my boys play soccer, or helping my husband and his students with FFA Activities, I enjoy running. I have run several 5Ks and this summer I ran in my first 10K. I am hoping to work my way up to a Half-Marathon by the spring! I also enjoy reading and riding horses.
