I am currently teaching kindergarten and have the last 4 years. I taught pre-k for twelve years. Prior to that I also taught 1st grade and kindergarten. I have taught in four different school districts and one private preschool. I have taught many autistic and special needs students in my regular education classes.
My teaching style is moderately structured. Kids thrive on routine so they need that structure they can depend on. I also love teaching integrated subjects revolving around a theme. I think that the kids get so much more out of it when they are surrounded by a theme.
Our campus has a starfish award. It represents the person that picks up the stranded starfish and tosses them back into the ocean, of course it is referring to children in regards to our school. This award goes to the teacher who has the most co-worker nominations. I have received this award on two separate occasions.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from West Texas State University. I have an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education for the Handicapped.
I am the mother of four, 24 and 15 year old boys and 22 and 19 year old girls. I am also the wife of a teacher/coach and daughter of two teachers. I have a long history in education.
