I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching special education. For the past two years, I taught 3rd-5th graders in a life skills setting. I have always been passionate about working with older students, and I was fortunate this year to take on a 6th-8th grade life skills classroom. I have taught students with a wide range of disabilities including autism, developmental disability, intellectual disability, other health impairment, and multiple disabilities. I have additional experience working at a day program for adults with disabilities, as well as a clinic for children with disabilities, where I did ABA therapy.
I believe in a structured classroom that is abundant in visuals. I try to use as many hands-on materials and manipulatives as possible to teach my students functional academics.
I attended Illinois State University, where I graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Special Education. I hope to begin pursuing a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and eventually work as a Board Certified Behavior Analysis.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, spending time with my nephew, and traveling. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or requests for materials! :)
