TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a 6-year veteran of the ELA teacher tribe. I'm DPI certified in Wisconsin for ages 10-21, and have taught the gamut of high school English courses from remedial/workplace courses to Advanced Placement Language and Composition.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I prefer to infuse humor and pop culture in my lessons: I've found that the best way to reach teenagers is to get on their level and engage their interests outside of the English classroom.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My specialty is student engagement through humor and pop-culture references in my lessons. I find that teenagers are more receptive to teachers that "get on their level" and show an interest in their lives and leisure pursuits--outside of trashy teen slang and doomed drama-rich relationships, that is! My teaching course of choice is AP-Language, so many of my lessons focus on teaching rhetoric, informational non-fiction, and improvement of writing skills. Thanks for stopping in!
