TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades all in title schools in and around San Antonio, TX. Altogether, I have been teaching a total of 7 years. This year I will be teaching 4th grade English Language Arts and Reading!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love teaching my students by utilizing student choice and small groups. Through guidance, the students begin to take responsibility of their own learning. I also believe in the explicit teaching of reading concepts and meta-cognition strategies.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX with my bachelor's degree. While completing my observation hours for my undergraduate degree, I was paired with a Reading Recovery teacher. During that few weeks, I fell in love with teaching children to read! I then decided to head back home and back to school. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
