TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a Math Specialist at a private school in CT. I've been teaching math for 12 years, often in special education settings. I have a Masters of Science in Education with a dual certification in regular and special ed. My experience spans all grade levels and populations and I have learned that there are an infinite number of creative ways to help children access conceptual mathematical understandings. Helping teachers help students has become another passion of mine. I love to offer insights and support them in their math teaching journey.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus on number sense as the essential foundation. Without this, numbers and operations are mostly meaningless. Understanding number relationships allow students to make connections, see patterns, trust numbers, and begin to draw their own conclusions. I glean a lot of my pedagogical approach from John Van de Walle, Marilyn Burns, and Yeap Ban Haar.
