I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator. I have worked with children for over a decade in both the child care setting and in the kindergarten classroom. I have planned and implemented thousands of activities to enrich the play experiences of children. I have also created dynamic learning centers that have fostered a thirst for knowledge, triggered important questioning, and instilled a love of learning. Various topics have been introduced over the years to provide diversity and rich learning. I have also implemented collaborative inquiry projects with my students that have enabled them to master the art of inquiry, learn how to research facts, create models to show their learning, and craft writing pieces to reflect the new knowledge that they have acquired as a result of the inquiry project. I love supporting children through play so that they receive the maximum learning experience they deserve and take away a longing to learn more, wrapped up in a sincere sense of excitement. I also teach through a virtual educational platform called Outschool.com. I have created dozens of classes and camps for learners to join and participate in online. Subject areas cover literacy, numeracy, self-care, inquiry projects, and social skills. I also possess a love of writing and as a result, I have written and published a Wellness Series of children's books entitled Deep Down Inside, Lucky Stars, and Smile Sandwich. I have also written and published a romance novel entitled, Under the Summer Sun. Currently, I have produced a new series of activity books based on Daily Positive Affirmations that will be released in February 2022. All of my books can be found on Amazon. I too have a natural love of learning, which has driven me toward broadening my horizons and growing professionally. As such, I infuse this passion into the materials, activities, and learning centers that I craft for children.
My teaching style is a combination of teacher-led instruction and student involvement. I like to provide provocation for students, through interesting objects, particular stories, experiments, and observations in the natural world. It is through my parachuting skills to drive into children's play and question them, entice them, and encourage further learning that allows me to guide their learning in a subtle but vital way. However, I respect that student involvement is the vehicle that moves the learning process along. It is so important for students to share their thoughts, predictions, questions, and interests in order to formulate the best learning plan. I truly believe that learning is a journey that we take together as we all play, learn, and grow together.
I received an award in 2018 for Outstanding Dedication to Staff and Students from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. This was such a great honor as I work alongside so many talented educators.
I graduated with honors from the Early Childhood Education program at Mohawk College.
