I taught Kindergarten for 21 years in the Danville Area School District in Danville, PA. Five years ago, I moved to First Grade and just love educating and loving those little ones as well. I am constantly growing professionally through writing district curriculum, supervising student teachers, mentoring new teachers, and serving on professional committees.
I believe that learning needs to be developmentally appropriate, engaging, and FUN! I am continuously modifying curriculum to incorporate hands-on activities for the students. I also utilize parent volunteers any way that I can because I believe that parental involvement is key to the success of the child.
I have been in Who's Who Among American Teachers several times as well as recognized for work with various student teachers. Teaching is my passion! I LOVE instructing students, seeing smiles on faces when they learn something new, and having special family events to share the learning!
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. I also have a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA.
I live in Danville, PA with my husband, Scott, son Scotty, and my dog, Abbey. We also own a 50's style restaurant and a soft-served ice cream truck that's loved by my students! :)
