TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello and welcome to my TpT store! I have been working with middle school students for over 15 years now and I love what I do! My passion is to help my students find a love of reading. As the language arts department chair for my building, I have spent countless hours diving into the Common Core State Standards, unpacking the standards, creating lesson that meet the new demands of CCSS, and working to create assessments for CCSS as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in facilitating instruction and providing rich learning experiences for students that allows for engagement and collaboration. If students are challenged, they will rise to the occasion and soar beyond where you've raised the bar.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received the 2010 Illinois Reading Council Teacher of the Year Award, the 2010 Lewis University Educationis Lumen Award for Excellence in Education, and I also received an award for excellence in teaching in 2011.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold a Master's Degree in Reading and Curriculum Instruction. I also have taken over 40 hours beyond my Master's Degree in other curriculum and Common Core Courses.
