This is my tenth year teaching seventh grade Social Studies in Michigan. Slowly over the years, I have designed a curriculum to stay as far away from lecturing and textbooks as possible. My goal is to create activities where students are continually processing the information, ideas and concepts to which they are exposed. Rather than lecturing and telling them what to learn, they explore ideas and information through means like guided inquiry, games and small projects.
I like to use the following strategies as a teacher/ facilitator: Guided Inquiry, A Gamified Learning Environment Student Response System/ Clickers, Game-Based Learning, Problem/ Project Based Learning, Interactive PowerPoints, Learning Games, Multimedia Presentations, Musical Adventures, Scaffolded Notes
