I taught High School in Indianapolis for 5 years in one of the states largest schools with 3,500 students. I taught mainly US History, Government, and Economics. After 5 years of over an hour commute each way, I was lucky enough to obtain my goal and get hired by my elementary school. Currently I teach 6th Grade World Geography at a very small rural school back in my hometown...my old stomping ground. I am also currently an adjunct professor for the Education Department at Indiana University teaching both introductory education courses as well as Master's research classes.
My teaching style is all about fun and fundamentals. I strongly believe that as a 6th grade teacher, it is my job to make them fall in love with Social Studies so that they will seek more later in secondary school. I am all about the fun, which you will see in almost all of my activities. Likewise, I am a huge proponent of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences theory. I try to use that as a baseline for all my activities.
Being a teacher...isn't that enough. I have more, but do you really want to hear someone say how awesome they are?
