I have been teaching for two and a half years; two full years as an integrated social studies teacher and half a year as an aide for various students. During my time teaching social studies, I have taught world history, sociology, and economics. I will be teaching government for the first time this coming fall.
I am a big believer in student-centered learning. My class consists of a variety of different activities including group projects and simulations. I do have Power Point presentations for notes, however, most of my class revolves around the students.
I recently wrote a grant where I received the necessary funds to purchase a classroom set of Google Cardboard headsets for virtual reality experiences.
I attended Baldwin Wallace University where I graduated with a degree in AYA Integrated Social Studies. I also earned a minor in mathematics. I currently attend graduate school at Ashland University where I am focusing on American history and government.
Along with teaching, I coach two sports. I have found that coaching and teaching go hand-in-hand. A lot of the strategies I use for teaching are applicable to coaching. I truly enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals both in school and in life.
