TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 18th year in the classroom teaching AP Language, American Literature, and World Literature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I deliver subject matter, themes/main ideas, and rhetorical techniques in their historical context through the psychological prism of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I accompany each step of the aforesaid with specific hand signals so as to integrate kinetics and visual learning. I do the same for syntax composition and essay composition. For the scope of American Literature, I have developed a slide walk with hand and body signals at every step to symbolize everything from the 300-plus Native American groups in the Americas, the 1620 and 1630 epochs of the Mayflower and the Winthrop group, the three broad categories of the Age of Enlightenment thinkers--all the way to Modernism and Post-Modernism.
