TEACHING EXPERIENCE

General Music Instruction K - 5th Vocal Music Choral Performance K - 8th Private instruction in piano, songwriting and music production Youth and children's pastor - 10 years

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use lots of motion and action, manipulatives and hands on activities to teach music theory. I use lots of analogies, comparisons and object lessons to teach character. I believe in the power of affirmation - that words are seeds and that ideas have consequences. I believe good music is the best platform to get good words to resonate and reverberate through young minds (and old ones too!).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the son of a music teacher and a computer systems engineer, grown up in Cleveland, OH, home of the Rock-n-roll Hall of Fame. Music is in my blood. I was a Youth and Children's pastor for 10 years where I developed a passion to see kids develop a moral compass, social skills, and personal traits like self-control, industry and responsibility. The past several years in the public school system has solidified my belief that wisdom and skill are difficult to transmit and dangerous to possess without a foundation of useful purpose in service to mankind. Martin Luther King, Jr. rightly said, "...intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
