I started my teaching experience with 7-9th graders in a behavior management school, and have since taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades for over a decade. I teach in a relatively small district in Independence, Missouri. I have a BA from MNU in communications and a BA from Graceland University in education. I also have an MA in teacher leadership from Park University.
I have a very non-traditional eclectic teaching style. I use what I call "full-body" teaching. My classroom has students moving through brain breaks such as yoga, meditation, and Zumba. Singing is a daily event in my classroom. We sing songs to help us remember content as well as transition times. My classroom is a leadership classroom where each student is a valued member and has a leadership role. It is an environment in which self-efficacy is promoted. Technology is integrated in all subjects. My class motto is: "Good, better, better, best never let it rest until your good is better and your better is your best."
