Ms. Zayas was Spanish teacher at LAUSD for 11 years and was dismayed to see the poor quality of resources available. She loved teaching but felt confined by the impersonal and generic curriculum she was forced to use, which stressed memorization and good test scores over practical use of the language, outside the classroom. Ms. Zayas felt there had to be a better way so back in the summer of 1998, she started creating a very different Spanish program from scratch. In 2000, she started her teaching company in Southern California, Spanish-4-You, while still employed as a full-time Spanish teacher. The amount of work and dedication in these 17 years has been herculean and very expensive. There are now 8 workbooks for every age group. Each workbook has 10 lessons with original exercises, explanations and illustrations.
Our popular lessons use a simple but effective methodology: the immersion method, where not a word of English is ever spoken. This method places students in an interactive environment with Spanish as the only language used for communication. We do not stress memorization, but constant repetition, with the help of colorful illustrations and real-life situation role-plays. Our main goal is having students learn Spanish effortlessly while having fun, in a natural setting. With our program, learning Spanish is not a chore, but a joy! When students are challenged and enjoy the process of learning, not just the end result, they are able to reach a comfortable conversational level in record time.
