TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a third year teacher and coach at a Private Classical School in Texas. I teach Spanish I, II and Economics. I also taught Spanish III for 2 years. Our school has used the Realidades textbooks, but is now switching to the Mundo Real series. I have created resources for both. Our Economics course reads from 3 main texts, the Wealth of Nations, the Communist Manifesto, and The Law. The goal is to expose students to different economic ideologies so they may critically analyze which systems work and which do not. We also teach about the stock market and budgeting, so there resources on those topics as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach at a Classical school. So in the high school years, the focus is rhetoric and self expression. The goal is to teach students how to think so that they can seek and discern truth for themselves. We teach in pursuit of the good, true, and beautiful.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Hillsdale College in 2016 with degress in International Studies in Business and Foreign Language and Economics. I am passionate about these two subjects for their practicality in today's world. The goal of foreign language is communication, so the focus of my Spanish classes is speaking. Economics informs much of what we do on a daily basis as well as large scale national activity such as politics and war. I love the opportunity to teach students about these ideas that have great consequences.

I played basketball as well as competed in the high jump in college. I am embarking on my coaching career this year and have a plethora of resources from my 12 years as a competitive athlete.
