TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught special education vocational high school for 24 years before making the jump to a 1st- & 2nd-grade combined special education class. I was the reading & math teacher for the high school where I taught. I miss teaching my high school students, but I love my little ones!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am passionate about instilling a love for learning in my students! I have high student expectations, but also maintain a fun, engaging, & energetic classroom. I also use technology at every opportunity.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I graduated with honor from Agnes Scott College (BA in Art, Art History & German) & Georgia State University (M. Ed. in Mild Intellectual Disabilities) I was named the 1994 Teacher of the Year for my school. I am a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa & Kappa Delta Phi.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am a proud product of DeKalb County Schools; I attended Brockett Elementary, Tucker High School, & Agnes Scott College. I also attended Phillips-Universitat Marburg in what was then West Germany. For my post-graduate degree, I attended Georgia State University, graduating at the top of my class with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I serve on my school's STEM committee & recently attended a STEM conference. I also teach after-school Art Club, as well as serving students who qualify for Extended School Year during the summers.
