TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my fifth year teaching in a public school elementary setting. I have taught every year as a special education teacher, but have also taught Reading Recovery as well as Leveled Literacy Intervention.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach small group reading and writing intervention at two elementary schools. Students range from first grade through fifth grade and all engage in LLI lessons daily. I also teach one math group with primary students as well.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Grant from 2015: Awarded a grant to attend the Colorado Council International Reading Association Conference (CCIRA) in February and obtain a Reading Recovery Council of North America (RRCNA) online membership in order to access online resources including the RRCNA bi-yearly periodical.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelors of Education in Early Childhood Education (PreK-3), MEd in Literacy Instruction K-12, Reading Recovery Certification, and trained in Leveled Literacy Intervention.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Working as a Special Education teacher, I have conducted Functional Behavior Assessments, written Behavior Intervention Plans, implement guided math and reading groups for kindergarten through fifth grade students. For additional behavior interventions (at the Tier 1 or Tier 2 level) I've implemented Second Step social skills groups. I served on the Response to Intervention team and the Virtue Committee. I also served as the Building Technology Coordinator (BTC) providing support for teachers and administration in our district's transition to Google as well as troubleshoot throughout the building.
