TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before teaching, I worked briefly as a Junior ABA Therapist for the Center of Autism and Related Disorders. I was a substitute teacher for several years, working in all sorts of classes, subjects, and grades. My first year as a teacher/case carrier was in Alternative Education. I taught all subjects in a self-contained middle school classroom for students with emotional disturbances. For the last several years, I have been teaching 6-8 Mild/Moderate Science and Social Studies! I work with a very diverse population, including students with Autism, Emotional Disturbances, Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech Impairments, ADHD, ODD, Other Health Impairments, and Intellectual Disabilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I pour my heart into making curriculum accessible for my students, engaging my students, and focusing on their interests and strengths. I enjoy planning and creating hands-on, engaging activities for my students- taking their strengths and interests into consideration. My lessons usually involve a mix of visuals, technology, music, collaboration, games, simulations, videos, hands-on projects, etc. I use lots of praise, opportunities to practice social skills, and a sense of humor.
