TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a 6th year special education middle school teacher. I teach Mild/Moderate 6-8th grade Science and Social Studies. I began this TPT journey because I wanted to help other teachers. I remember how overwhelmed I was as a new special education teacher- and I am also well aware of the high turnover rate in our field. My goal is to help other teachers to be successful so that they will stay- whether it's saving other teachers time by providing modified lesson plans, easy ways to organize caseload paperwork, or the latest tech resources- I am here to help other special education teachers to feel empowered and prepared! I began my teaching journey with a degree in Psychology. This led to an amazing internship with the Center of Autism and Related Disorders. It was through this internship that I realized that teaching was my passion! My first year as a teacher was in Alternative Education for middle school students with Emotional Disturbances. For the last several years I have been teaching 6-8th grade Mild/Moderate Science and Social Studies! It is my dream job!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My favorite part of teaching is making learning fun! My lessons usually involve a mix of visuals, technology, music, collaboration, games, simulations, videos, hands-on projects, etc. I use lots of praise, opportunities to practice social skills, and a sense of humor.
