I have been teaching over 18 years and teaching students with exceptional needs for over 14 years in the self contained and resource setting. I have instructed students with varying exceptional abilities in academics and social emotional disorders that include but are not limited to general learning disabilities in math, reading and writing. I have been fortunate to instruct students who have a wide range of learning abilities. Some students have had multiple disabilities that need smaller more structured classroom settings while some been in the gifted and talented classrooms.
My teaching style is varied and changes depending on what my students need. Some classes can be all hands on, while others might all be auditory and tactile. This is one of the reasons I love teaching exceptional needs students, it's never boring and always a challenge.
I have been been teacher of the year in my school and also received my National Board of Certification in teaching students with exceptional needs.
Along with my National Board Certification , I have a BA in Visual Art and a Masters in Education.
I have a wonderful family that includes a husband and two incredible children who keep me on my toes 24/7. I also have 3 crazy dogs who think they are human and two birds that never stop making noise.
