TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been working in an inner city public school system for the last 6 years. It has been an amazing experience. So far I have had the pleasure of working with children with Autism, Apraxia, Traumatic Brain Injuries, clefts, hearing deficits, and articulation and language disorders. I have learned so much and I continue to learn new things everyday.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My style is a very fun and laid back. I like to incorporate a lot of hands-on activities during therapy sessions to keep children engaged. I work with a lot of preschool-aged students and therefore I do a lot of large group lessons. I always incorporate stories into my lessons as they are usually my inspiration in creating activities. I draw and make a lot of things free-hand so they are not always easy upload but I will try. My caseload has large number of students with Autism so most of my activities are in some way geared towards children on the spectrum. I like to use sentence strips with them such as "I want, I see, I hear, I feel, etc." and I always have them handy. Lastly, my activities are also filled with visuals, visuals, visuals! Students learn when there are pictures to go along with words!
