Hi! I love creating speech therapy activities that make your sessions easier (and more fun!) I'll help you manage those crazy caseloads with materials that address multiple goals at once for your mixed groups and diverse learners. I'm an ASHA certified, school-based speech-language pathologist. I've loved working with students for 18 years now, serving preschool through 4th grade, plus junior high students as well. I provide therapy services to a wide range of learners, including children on the autism spectrum, children with fluency or language disorders, apraxia, articulation and phonological disorders. About a third of my caseload are preschoolers, many of whom participate in my intensive, literacy-based preschool program developed by myself and a colleague. l also enjoy providing therapy to adults after school in hospital and outpatient rehabilitation settings with diagnoses of aphasia, swallowing and voice disorders, dysarthria, apraxia and cognitive-linguistic deficits.

I believe in multi-sensory teaching techniques and the use of relatable, curriculum-based themes and activities to make learning memorable and lasting. My focus with my young students is on using wonderful children’s literature and rhymes to develop awesome language, literacy and articulation skills. I love hands-on, naturalistic, interactive activities. We sing, we dance, engage in crafts and sensory activities, explore wonderful books and learn about the world as we develop our speech and language skills!

Honors of the UNT Speech and Language Department, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, Teacher of the Year, Innovative Teaching Educational Grant Recipient. My therapy activities and blog posts have been featured in the ASHA Leader. I've been honored to be a speaker at the TSHA conference and present professional training to SLP's and teachers on speech and language topics. My blog has been selected as one of the top 100 websites for SLP's.

BA in Psychology and MS in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Texas. I've completed advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech with Dr. Edythe Strand and completed the TEACHH Hand in Hand Program. (And I totally nerd out when given the opportunity to take a great workshop!)

I come from a family with a long line of teachers, and I'm happy to follow the family tradition of supporting education by providing speech therapy. In addition to traditional speech therapy sessions with students from preschool to 4th grade, I currently teach a 2-hour, twice-weekly large group speech therapy pre-school program. My program is designed to provide intensive intervention to young children with speech and language disorders, with an emphasis on early literacy skills. We have circle-time, centers, art activities, table activities and individual instruction. Many of my materials are appropriate for both small group or classroom settings like my pre-k group. I use these materials in my own therapy room and hope that you will enjoy them in yours! Visit my blog for exclusive freebies and what's happening in my speech room. Keep in touch on social media too, I love hearing from you! Speech Sprouts Blog, Speech Sprouts on Pinterest, Speech Sprouts on Facebook, Instagram: @speechsprouts
