TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am from Charleston, South Carolina. My interest in speech therapy began after my sister was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Although I was a high school student at the time, I was able to attend my sister's multiple therapy sessions each week and witnessed the impact of effective therapy services first-hand. In 2012, I graduated from College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In 2015, I earned a Master of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology at South Carolina State University. I earned my Autism Specialist Certification in 2017. I specialize in ASD (autism), evaluations/assessments, language therapy, and bilingual/multicultural clients. During my spare time, I enjoy exploring the Bay Area (especially when I can find a good Southern restaurant!). Prior to becoming a speech-language pathologist, I worked several jobs that enriched my understanding of related services. I was an instructional aide (also called a shadow or paraprofessional) for an autistic child, a substitute teacher, an accent modification coach, an IEP secretary, and an early intervention coordinator for a school district. As a speech-language pathologist, I have worked in private practices and school districts both in Southern California and in the Bay Area. My clients have ranged from ages 1-65, and have spoken English, American Sign Language, Tagalog, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, and various Indian languages/dialects.
