I am an Australian teacher with a Bachelor or Primary Education and a Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language and a background in the Visual Arts. I am a website creator http://www.spellbypatterns.com and a children's author.
My work is a series of short stories that focus on one sound/spelling pattern at a time. For example for the Long A sound, I have created 5 short stories for each spelling pattern (ai, ay, a , a_e, eigh). Each story has text (the the spelling pattern highlighted in red) and original hand drawn illustrations. The stories are in Power Point format so you can share them at your won pace with your students. I am passionate about learning through stories and I have had great success using these spelling stories and exercises with my own students.

I have created website called Spell by Patterns which is totally free (and is also free of advertising). Students can watch and listen to short stories that focus on one sound/spelling pattern at a time and there are some follow up activities to do. There is also a section for plurals and past tense spelling rules. There is a page called 'Teachers' that explains in detail how I use the stories in my classroom. There are also free printables to download for a classroom Word Hunt activity for each sound.
