TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I spent my first 4 years after graduation working in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) just outside of Minneapolis, MN. I worked with clients between 21-100 years old who presented with an array of various disorders/disabilities/diagnoses such as; Broca's aphasia, Wernicke's aphasia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), anoxic brain injury, dysphagia, apraxia of speech, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, locked-in syndrome, cerebral palsy, those with voice disorders as well as laryngectomees. Although I loved the clientele I worked with, I wanted to remove myself from the medical setting and make the switch to an educational setting. After a short time job searching, a good friend of mine from graduate school referred me for a Speech-Language Pathologist position within the intermediate school district she worked for....and 2 years later, here I am...and I'm LOVING it! Currently I work in two different settings, a federal level 4 setting K-12 school (primarily servicing students with ASD/DCD/EBD/S/LI diagnoses), and level 3 setting middle and high school programs (servicing students who are lower functioning, many who are nonverbal, with moderate/severe DCD/ASD/OHD/SMI diagnoses).

MY TEACHING STYLE

Typically structured with a touch of 'winging it.' :) I've always been the flexible and spontaneous type.
