I graduated in 2005 with my degree in elementary education. I taught one year of 2nd grade before landing in my favorite age group, 5th grade. I taught three years of 5th grade before moving to a new state for my husband's job. I took a break from classroom teaching and spent a couple of years in corporate training and staff development. I then home schooled three children for two years. Another move brought me back to classroom teaching. I did some substitute teaching and then happily landed in 5th grade. The next year, I was expecting a baby, so switched to part time and tackled 8th-10th grade algebra. I am currently a stay-at-home mom with a precious one-year-old son. I teach in a volunteer capacity at my church regularly. I have always loved developing curriculum for my students and am taking this season of life to finish and materialize some of my ideas.
I love my students and am passionate about helping them to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. I love to learn. I love math, good books, exploring and discovering. I set up my classroom with a solid framework of high expectations, clear standards, efficient routines, and simple plans. I then operate within that framework with a lot of flexibility, adjusting to individual student and overall class needs for fun, silliness, compassion, life lessons, and rest.
