I have taught Spanish in the United States and abroad since 2002 in single sex and co-ed schools to students in grade school, high school and university classes.
I enjoy speaking with my students in Spanish, guiding peer to peer conversations in Spanish, and providing students with a comfortable environment in which to practice new skills, all the while demanding of them that they understand the grammar behind what they are saying.
As a teacher in a private school, awards that one might think of, such as "best in district" aren't applicable. There is no finer honor than consistent positive feedback from my students and I frequently receive that. I'm very grateful for my wonderful pupils and I look forward to serving them to the best of my ability every day.
University of Missouri--Columbia: Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Post Graduate studies in Spanish Literature; Baker University: Master of Liberal Arts
In addition to my responsibilities as a Spanish teacher, I am also in charge of the Mock Trial team, the Ecology Club, and I assist with test proctoring in my school's Testing Center. My experiences working with the debate/forensics team for 10 years have come in handy with my "Mockers," and I learned a lot about interacting with students in an athletic atmosphere as a track coach early in my career. I am a continual learner with many interests including the fine arts, history, science and health related topics, and business/finance.
