TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started teaching English in 2003, mixed in a little Spanish in 2006, and I've been a Spanglish teacher pretty much ever since. I've worked high schools from rural to redesigned, traditional to early college, and I've worked in a school of over 2,000, but I love the flexibility and the family of working in schools with under 200.

MY TEACHING STYLE

21st century skills are paramount in my class, foremost among them are communication and collaboration. I believe inquiry and technology are also essential to lifelong learning, which is why I advocate for Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Genius Hour. I believe in purposeful learning, authentic tasks and authentic resources over academics for their own sake. We must foster inquiry skills to build lifelong learners and scaffold meaningful work so students can experience success.
