I have taught high school Spanish for 8 years. I started my career at Morristown-Hamblen High School West in Morristown, TN. I taught for a year at Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex in Providence, RI. My current teaching home is at Blackstone Academy Charter School in Pawtucket, RI.
My classroom is a Flipped Classroom. For more information I recommend the book Flip Your Classroom by Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams. I use a great deal of technology in my instruction, practice activities and my assessments. It is my goal to make the language accessible for non-heritage speakers and to challenge heritage speakers. I believe in interactive classes and assessments that test real skills in writing, speaking, and presentation. My current text book is Realidades, so many of my materials correspond to its chapters. However, I often deviate from the book and make my own things too.

I am not a heritage speaker of Spanish myself, having begun my study of Spanish in college. I feel I have a pretty clear perspective on what it is like to approach the language with no background, which helps me communicate clearly with my students and understand where they are going wrong. I look for any opportunity to bring personality and creativity to every aspect of my teaching.
