I teach third grade (prior to that I taught 2nd grade) in a Title 1 site in Northern CA. I have been teaching for 12 years and am constantly changing things, searching for new ideas and practices, and above all striving to make things FUN as well as educational in my classroom. I work hard to collaborate with others at my site, in my district, and through my PLN.
I strive to make education FUN! I have a 1:1 iPad class. We work on PBL units, in small and large groups. As part of the move to a 21st century classroom we are working together where I am more of a facilitator than a lecturer. I enjoy this and it has allowed me to spend more time working in small groups as well as provided my students with more autonomy.
2007 and 2014 Site Teacher of the Year
I have a B.A. in liberal studies, an M.A.Ed. in elementary education, an Ed.D. in instructional leadership, as well as an Autism Authorization Certificate.
I am on the executive board of our teachers' association, school leadership team, and several district committees. I have participated in each each school pilot for new curriculum materials, was on the committee to create ELA CCSS aligned units, and enjoy being "in the thick of things."
