I began teaching in 1998 as a Reading tutor. Since then, I have taught 3rd, 4th, and now 5th grade. I adore teaching 5th grade!
I absolutely believe in making learning fun and challenging! I especially love to hook students in with an engaging read aloud or new reading series and then watch them beg to borrow my book or to run to the library to be the first student to check out the next book. My classroom centers around the love of reading!
Knowing my love of reading has spread throughout my classroom when students try to read during any available second of the day. One student in particular, years ago, was reading Hunger Games for the first time. Every morning before school, she would come in to my class to talk to me or cry with me about what was happening in the book. She read the whole series voraciously and we had the best time discussing the books together.
I received a BA in English Literature at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA in 1996. I also studied at Stockton University in Pomona, NJ for post-bacc education studies.
I am a mom of two- Liam (13) and Maeve (11). My husband, Graig, is also a teacher of 8th grade Social Studies. We love to travel and are always plotting our next adventure.
