I've been working in the public school system for 12 years now. I have two years experience as a school counselor, one year as a behavior interventionist, seven years as a special education Emotional Disability/Behavior teacher, and two years as a special education resource Math teacher! I also have been a mentor to new special education teachers in my school district, and host student teachers in my classroom. I've learned a few tricks about what works and doesn't, particularly for special education teachers, along the way. I'm excited to share some of my favorite resources with everyone on Teachers Pay Teachers! Welcome to Starfish Seekers!
Every teacher knows the starfish story and I think of it when I think of what I most want to do as a teacher: care about the students, teach them skills to succeed, and watch them flourish. I try to the best of my ability to see strengths in every student and find a way to reach them, academically and personally. I truly do believe that kids don't care what you know until they know you care.

When I'm not teaching, I'm playing with my own two little ones, hanging with my husband, enjoying the outside, family, and friends!
