For two years, I taught third grade at a Catholic school in Kentucky. I took a year off to focus on my Masters degree, and then this past school year, I taught a combined 3/4 classroom. It was a wonderful experience, and I cannot wait to begin another school year, where I'll also be working a bit more with other grade levels.
I try to incorporate technology into my lessons as much as possible. We use the Internet, Brain Pop videos, and the SMART board almost every single day. I love websites like Edmodo, Class Connect, and Kid Blog, to name a few. My goal is for learning to be meaningful and hands-on for my students. I enjoy having them work in groups, and the students do projects and give presentations as much as possible. I am always willing to try something new in my teaching style; it keeps me "fresh" and on my toes!
Yet to be added
I grew up in Catholic schools from grades K-12, and then I attended Northern Kentucky University for my undergraduate and graduate education. I studied elementary education, and when I went back to school, my focus was on receiving a reading and writing endorsement.
Aside from working with children, a passion of mine is dancing. It is something I absolutely enjoy doing, and I try to keep up with it as much as I can. I currently take ballet classes once a week, but I am looking to take more classes now that summer is here. Another activity I really enjoy is reading. When I have the time, I love curling up with a good book, wasting the day away.
