TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an educator for 13 years. I taught 2nd grade for 11 years and have spent the last 3 years teaching STEM and Robotics to kids Kindergarten-6th grade through after school classes. I also write STEM curriculum for Pre-K students in our community. Combining my passion for teaching, science and creativity, I launched "STEAMCamp for Kids" in 2020. We offer enrichment camps in the areas of STEM, Robotics and Animation for kids ages 5-12. I also work with our homeschool communities to offer enrichment opportunities and lessons for their students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style and learning style mesh together. I learn best by touching, practicing and doing and find that I tend to teach the same way. I give my students a lot of autonomy in the classroom after we have established some firm boundaries and high expectations. I believe children learn best when they are having fun and there's a goal and purpose set before them. I believe those goals will be different for each child and there isn't one single measure for what defines success for them. However, with that said, I do value data-driven decisions and believe when used correctly, data can let us know if what we are doing for a child, is working. I want students to leave my classroom, camps or after school class with smiles, inspiration and confidence!
