My mission for STEM Junction is to: To support learning environments in which teachers enjoy teaching and students enjoy learning, while ensuring that all students are critical consumers and effective communicators of information, and are able to make decisions based on evidence. Granted, a mission statement should be concise, memorable, and easy to repeat, but I’m working on that!

For almost twenty years, I’ve taught at the middle school, high school, and college level in both online and face-to-face formats including: General Physical Science and Mathematics at the middle school level; Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, and Physics at the high school level; and General Chemistry and Basic Mathematics at the college level. In addition to teaching, I’ve written, edited, and reviewed hundreds of educational materials. And I’ve developed professional development courses for STEM educators about a variety of topics including the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Game-Based Learning, Engineering Design, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Project-Based Learning. And as a contract instructional designer, I’ve collaborated with geographically dispersed teams to design and develop online and blended learning solutions for a colorful spectrum of clients from large companies to small start-ups.
