I have taught for 25 years in Georgia and Alabama. I have been a presenter at the Alabama and Georgia Math and Science teacher Association meetings and for BEST Robotics at the National Conference. I was invited to speak about my teaching style at the Alabama Superintendent Association meeting in 2014. Currently, I am a math and Science Specialist with the AMSTI Program at the University of North Alabama
I am a facilitator of learning. I have accepted the hands off (but nearby for support) philosophy. I try to teach my students to learn for themselves, preferring to teach "How to Learn" rather than "Stuff". I look at it this way. I can put stuff in your shed or you can put stuff in your shed. If I put it in, you aren't really sure what it is or what its for and probably forget its there until you get a chance to reorganize. Then, you probably throw most of it out. If you put the stuff in, then you can organize it how you like. You know what it is and why its there. You can go get what you want when you want it.
