I taught for 4 years in Utah doing Middle school science. Most of the time I taught 7th grade. I was also a MESA advisor. While attending BYU I also taught science at a private school to middle school students. My first t teaching job was at a charter school where I was the only middle school science teacher. This meant I had to create my own curriculum (so it fit in with the charter) and I loved that part of my job actually.
My classroom was very hands on. I joke that I wasn't actually teaching and more just helping my students discover science. We did a lot of labs that were differentiated for the many levels in our class. For the last two years have been using mastery grading which has really helped our students understand what they are expected to know from the curriculum.
Utah Science Teachers Association's Rookie Middle School Science Teacher of the Year
Currently enrolled at the University of Utah to receive my masters of science for secondary science teachers (MSSST). Graduated from Brigham Young University in 2012 with a BS in Earth and Space Science Education. Graduated from Moon Valley High School in 2007.
I am not currently teaching because my husband got a job in California and we have a young child at home. But I love making assignments and useful things for the classroom so I decided to open a store to help keep those skill sharp until I can go back into the classroom. I've noticed a big lack of stuff for secondary education classrooms and I thought that is a niche I could help fill. I also want to help provide primary education teachers with STEM activities for their students. I love science and sharing that passion with others.
