TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been an educator for over ten years, learning and growing each day along the way. I've been teaching 5th grade for 4 years, as well as coaching 7th/8th grade girls basketball.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm a fifth grade teacher in an inclusion classroom with typically a high population of English Language Learners. My teaching style promotes the power of teamwork, highlighting individual strengths and areas for growth for all of my students. I spend the first six weeks of school building and solidifying my classroom community to ensure that my students understand and feel that it’s a safe and welcoming place to learn and take risks. Also, I apply many of the ideals behind the Responsive Classroom approach, including: Morning Meeting, Guided Discovery, Hopes and Dreams, and The First Six Weeks of School. Ultimately, I work hard to create a classroom of engaged learners who recognize my classroom and our community as fun, challenging, and a classroom to remember.
